The VKM dowel milling machine, designed in line with proven design concepts. Innovation doesn’t stop with round rod milling machines. Our machines for cylindrical milling of logs feature a range of new developments. Thanks to their modular construction, businesses can precisely select the machine size and configuration tailored to their specific woodworking requirements.

Technology:
All roller pairs are actuated for opening and closing via a valve manifold – eliminating the need for mechanical diameter adjustment. This removes the unnecessary fine-tuning during setup changes. Even if a raw timber log is slightly larger than usual – that’s no longer an issue.

With the use of a soft starter, the milling motors are gently ramped up before reaching full power. Alternatively – and especially for challenging power networks – a frequency inverter can also be offered for ramping up operations. Covering a machining range from 30 to 400mm across the entire product line, these milling machines accommodate even the most specific requirements.

Efficiency:
You control speed and productivity: firstly through your choice between a single-head or double-head milling machine model. For the perfect surface finish, VKM uses milling heads with higher rotational speeds. All components have been modeled with finite element calculations, reducing the number of parts – and thereby potential failure points. The high rotational speeds of the milling heads not only ensure excellent surface quality, but also guarantee high cutting speeds.

Depending on the machine type, feed rates of up to 35 m/min are possible. The benefits? Higher speed, greater precision, more power.

Safety:
Simple machine operation via the central control panel. Pressure regulators for each roller section are mounted directly adjacent to it. Feed speed can also be reduced at any time as needed. All access doors are equipped with electric interlocks and can only be opened once the machine has safely come to a stop. This ensures maximum safety while maintaining top performance during operation.
