Explanation for Short Operating Time:
The complete Cross Wrap bale opener line type BO 4000 was installed in 2015 at a municipal waste incineration plant. The purpose of the installation was to allow municipal waste to be received, baled, wrapped, and stored in case of a plant malfunction or maintenance, until normal operation resumed. After the issue was resolved, all bales would then be opened and the waste fed back into the normal incineration process.
This worst-case scenario never occurred. The system was installed, commissioned and subsequently never used in regular operation. Only during initial commissioning in 2015 were 674 bales opened over three days. The system is in excellent, ready-to-use condition. Due to plant modifications, the installation area is needed for other purposes, and the complete line is therefore offered for sale.
Brief Description of the Bale Opening Process:
The compressed bales are placed onto the infeed conveyor from the side or rear using a forklift. For opening, the bales must be positioned with the wire or twine binding running horizontally to the conveyor; otherwise, bales must be rotated 90°. The infeed conveyor moves each bale to the cutting unit. The grippers hold the wire or twine strapping firmly. The rotating knife cuts the bale lengthwise. The gripper then returns to its initial position. The opened bale is then conveyed to the discharge chute and drops onto the subsequent conveyor system.

Coil metal leveling, slitting, and shearing equipment is an essential attribute for companies working with sheet metal. FORSTNER, a company with long-standing experience in the manufacturing of coil metal processing machines, currently offers the market not only standard metal shears, but also equipment that performs leveling, slitting, and shearing functions. Shearing is carried out by either rotary disc shears or guillotine shears. Depending on your production goals and the tasks your equipment needs to perform, these machines can be categorized into four groups:
1. Cut-to-length lines;
2. Slitting and cut-to-length lines;
3. Leveling and cut-to-length lines;
4. Leveling, slitting, and cut-to-length lines.
On certain slitting machine models, the leveling and slitting functions can be automated, enabling quick and convenient parameter adjustments when starting to process a new material.
The Forstner EASY series features machines that cut metal sheets to a specified length using guillotine or rotary disc shears. The EASY CUT machine is equipped with rotary disc shears capable of cutting steel up to 1.0 mm thick. If you need a machine for cutting thicker metal, the EASY PRO model with a guillotine is recommended. Working widths for these machines are available at 1250 mm or 1500 mm.
Forstner STRAIGHT: These machines pull a pre-set length of metal sheet, level it, and cut it to length. Depending on the type of cross-cutting knife and leveling roller diameter, the processed metal thickness ranges from 1 mm to 2 mm. STRAIGHT and POWERSTRAIGHT models differ in leveling roller adjustment: mechanical or automatic. Integrated automatic controls save time in the long run, as a single button press is enough to change machine parameters. Automatic control is an excellent choice when working with a wide range of materials.
Forstner SLIT series is a reliable solution for slitting coil metal. The SLIT CUT and SLIT PRO models not only cut the metal but also slit it lengthwise into strips of selected width. As standard, these models come equipped with 5 slitting knives (maximum number – 7). The main difference between SLIT CUT and SLIT PRO models is the type of cutting knife: rotary disc shears or guillotine.
The Forstner COMPACT series consists of machines that pull the required length of material, level it, slit it into strips of desired width, and cut sheets to specified lengths.
