The primary application of this type of lathe is pipe machining. Accordingly, this machine type is widely used in the petroleum industry.
These pipe threading lathes offer extensive capabilities for machining threaded connections on cylindrical and conical internal and external surfaces of large diameter pipes. Clamping of pipes with two chucks and the included steadies allow for machining pipes of considerable length.
