Construction and Function of the Planer

- Table: The thicknesser's table is made from high-quality, precision-ground cast iron with a polished work surface to Ra 1.6 specifications. Table height adjustment in the thicknesser is performed via a large, easy-to-use handwheel, which can be locked at the desired height with an additional eccentric lever.
- Knives: The key element of the planer, the knives are positioned above or below the table and are responsible for removing excess material from the wood’s surface. The knives may be mounted on a rotating cutter block or shaft.
- Motor: The planer is powered by an electric motor, delivering the necessary power to drive the cutter block or planing head.
- Cutter Head Guard: The shaft guard can be adjusted freely, allowing changes to its height, angle, and extension as needed.
- Feed Mechanism: The woodworking machine is equipped with both drive and return rollers placed close to the cutter block, enabling even relatively short workpieces to pass through the thicknesser. The feed rollers are chain-driven, ensuring slip-free operation (no 'toothing' on the processed material).
- Guides: Guides ensure even movement of the workpiece. The angle guide can be smoothly set from 90° to 45°.
- Stability: The substantial weight of the machine ensures excellent stability, providing safe, vibration-free operation, further reinforced by additional anti-vibration feet.
- Ease of Use: Adjustments are simple, and switching the machine from planar to thicknesser mode takes just a few seconds.
