Skinetta ASK 450 Tension Banding Machine

Purpose of the machine

The SKINETTA series tension banding machines are designed to tightly wrap individual products or bundles of products with polyethylene film. Unlike shrink machines, the wrapping film is pulled tightly around the package before sealing. This tensioning is the main advantage of the process, resulting in up to 20% less film consumption.

A particular benefit of the patented SKINETTA tensioning system is the stepless, precise adjustability.

Sealing (welding) of the film occurs in a minimal space, producing a clean seal seam with very small overhangs. By adding a SKINETTAtherm or SKINETTAshrink heat tunnel and using sufficiently wide film, the excess film projecting beyond the package can be shrunk from the sides. This process further stabilizes the package and prevents individual items in a grouped bundle from falling out laterally. A complete enclosure of packages by sealing, end sealing, and side folding is possible with additional accessories.

The SKINETTA tension banding machine range includes 6 basic types for film widths of 25 mm up to 200, 290, 440, 590, 790, and 1250 mm. To increase output, dual-, triple-, and quadruple-lane versions are available in addition to the single-lane variant.
- For the SK series (semi-automatic), products are grouped by an operator on the machine table. Inserting the products into the film and the subsequent banding process are initiated via a foot switch or two-hand control. Later conversion to fully automatic operation is possible (except for type SK 200).
- For the ASK series (fully automatic), products are automatically fed, grouped, and banded by suitable accessory devices. A modular system of feed, grouping, forming, and special devices – based on more than 20 years of experience – enables adaptation to a wide range of customer requirements using proven standard components.
