Packstation Bergmann PS 1400

The Bergmann PS1400 is an intelligent compaction station, also referred to as a mini-compactor, that offers an alternative to traditional baling presses. Instead of compressing recyclable material into bales, the PS1400-E compacts the recyclables directly into a large plastic bag (approximately 1400 liters) positioned on a pallet. This system is ideal for environments with continuous streams of recyclables, such as distribution centers, supermarkets, or manufacturing facilities generating significant packaging waste.

Unlike conventional balers with vertical pressing plates, the PS1400-E utilizes a rotating drum, allowing it to process recyclable materials continuously without the need to pause for individual compression cycles. Cardboard, plastic film, residual waste, or other materials can be loaded into the machine’s hopper. A powerful steel drum with cutting blades tears the material apart and compacts it directly into the bag below.

Continuous loading is possible—the waste inlet can remain open while the drum operates, eliminating downtime. This continuous feed capability greatly increases throughput compared to a baler, which requires waiting for each pressing cycle to complete and the chamber to be reopened. The PS1400 is user-friendly: it can be started/stopped with a simple button, or even operate fully automatically (in some models, it starts when recyclable material is detected). Since the compressed material is collected in a heavy-duty PE bag, the result is a compact “block” of recyclables neatly placed on a pallet. This bundle can be easily sealed and transported with a pallet jack or forklift. One key advantage is that these sealed waste packages are clean and leak-proof, permitting them to be shipped alongside goods without risk of contamination. This is particularly advantageous for supermarkets or production sites, where the compacted bags can be returned on trucks, avoiding unnecessary empty trips.

With the PS1400, you save not only storage space (up to 80% waste volume reduction, depending on the material), but also labor time. Staff need less frequent trips to waste containers and no longer have to band or manually handle bales—the bag is only replaced when full, which takes longer. The machine is safe (with emergency stop, secured access) and, thanks to electric drive, relatively quiet. Maintenance requirements are minimal: the rotating press drum is self-cleaning and the hydraulics are robustly engineered. In summary, the PS1400-E provides a modern, efficient solution for compacting recyclables at the source into manageable packages, offering significant logistical and cost benefits.
