It is equipped with a Heidenhain path control TNC 114, which means it can traverse a programmed distance in any axis, regardless of x, y, or z, and stops automatically upon reaching the set value. Four different zero points can be set; measurements can be input as absolute values or as incremental (chain) dimensions. The feed rate is infinitely variable from 0–750 mm and can be adjusted during milling operations. Rapid traverse can be activated at the push of a button. The spindle speed can be set in steps from 50 rpm to 2240 rpm, but only when the machine is stationary. The vertical milling head is fastened with three screws and can be removed or reattached within 2 minutes; it is manually mounted using the swing arm visible on the left side of the machine and can be easily swung aside.
