Construction and Operation of the Planer-Thicknesser

- Table: The thicknessing table is made from high-quality, ground cast iron with a polished working surface rated at Ra 1.6. Table height is adjusted using a large, ergonomic handwheel, which can be locked in place with a quick-action eccentric lever.
- Knives: The key component of a planer, these are located above or below the table and are responsible for removing excess material from the wood's surface. The knives can be mounted to a rotating cutter block or cutting head.
- Motor: The planer is powered by an electric motor that delivers the energy required to drive the cutter blocks or milling head.
- Cutter Block Guard: The guard can be adjusted as needed, with settings for height, angle, and extension.
- Feed Mechanism: This woodworking machine is equipped with feed rollers (driving and driven), positioned very close to the cutter block, allowing even relatively short pieces to be processed. The feed rollers are chain-driven, ensuring slip-free operation (no ‘stepping’ of the workpiece).
