Plunge rolling: The thread rolling dies, with the same pitch as the workpiece, form the thread by pressing into the workpiece up to the nominal diameter. The thread length is at most as long as the width of the rolling dies.

Through-feed rolling: Used when the thread length exceeds the width of the rolling dies. Through-feed dies have three functional zones – lead-in, calibration, and lead-out.

Knurling Rolls: These rolls have no pitch and are swiveled at the pitch angle of the profile to be rolled.

Pitch Rolls: Pitch rolls have a profile with a pitch, differing from knurling rolls. The sum of the pitch angle and swivel angle determines the pitch angle in the finished workpiece.
