Plunge Grinding

With the plunge grinding process, workpieces with stepped or profiled external surfaces—such as nozzle needles, valves, journal crosses, gearbox and electric motor shafts—are machined. Available technologies include straight or angled plunge grinding, plunge grinding for single or multiple workpieces, plunge grinding in several operations (simultaneously or sequentially), and oscillating plunge grinding. Through-feed grinding is used for machining unprofiled workpieces, such as cylindrical and tapered rollers, rings, rods, and hydraulic slide valves. This grinding process is highly productive and mainly used for series and mass production of precision components.
