About the Finger Jointer
When feeding wood into the machine, defects such as knots or cracks can be marked with a fluorescent wax crayon. The machine removes these defects, including the marked lines. For example, to produce claddings or panels free from knots or holes. Prior to profiling and pressing, the wood is positioned statically, laterally secured, and clamped precisely against a reference surface at the top. This ensures an extremely accurate finger joint connection with a smooth surface at the joint and a straight finished product. Due to this precision, the wood (for most applications) does not require further planing or sanding. The adhesive applicator is mounted on the carriage with the profile cutters. During the return stroke of the profiling carriage, adhesive is applied. Using PU adhesive ensures a highly durable bond, suitable for outdoor use and damp environments. While most other finger jointing machines feed the wood transversely (at a right angle) past the profiling heads, the Marinus Finger Jointer moves the wood longitudinally through the machine. This allows for the processing of long lengths up to 6 meters or more. As a result, the machine can process all of the wood, including longer lengths, and fully utilize it (except for the defects) in the finger-jointed final product. This way, quality wood is not turned into short waste pieces. Whereas other finger jointers focus on recycling short offcuts, the Marinus eliminates the production of offcuts.
