Single Indexing Method: The workpiece remains stationary and the tool (usually Arcon) rotates and cuts a tooth by plunging in. Once one tooth is cut, the tool retracts from the tooth space, the workpiece rotates by one tooth width, and the next tooth is cut. This is repeated until all teeth are completed. The cutter head has all cutters arranged on a circular path. Tapered tooth height. Parallel tooth top surface. The C28 is capable of both operations, gear + pinion. For the single indexing process, however, the C28 has to be 'prepared.' This means: direct measuring system + component gearbox brake for the workpiece axis + license file for producing single indexing process.
