The Uniq series forms the genuine foundation of our product range, incorporating all the features that have earned Kündig’s edge sanding machine its reputation on the market as a robust and versatile precision instrument. A key component of its extremely heavy-duty construction is the motorized oscillating sanding unit, which offers a maximum oscillation stroke of 90 mm and motorized tilting capability of up to 45°. All standard edge processing operations can be performed at up to four sanding stations.

Ingenious Design – The Sanding Unit

The heart of all our edge sanders is the sanding aggregate, which boasts a range of intelligent features and properties. Unlike conventional systems that oscillate by tilting the belt rollers, our machines move the entire sanding unit up and down. Both the oscillation stroke and oscillation range can be easily set at the push of a button. Thanks to flexible settings and the long oscillation path, the sanding belts can be used optimally across their entire width without laborious adjustments to the table height. The oscillation mechanism is driven by a separate motor.

Tilting the sanding aggregate is also done conveniently using a rotary switch and its own dedicated motor. The unit can be tilted between 90° and 45°. Thanks to a well-designed swiveling mechanism, full oscillation is available at all times, and double-sided sanding is possible—even simultaneously. Different table heights for the front and rear sanding stations ensure that the belt isn’t used at the same height on both sides. Furthermore, the combination of swiveling mechanism and varying table heights guarantees that the gap between the sanding aggregate and the worktable remains minimal at any tilt angle.

Changing the sanding belt is also effortless and takes only seconds.

The Four Sanding Stations

1. Sanding Station: “Veneer Side”

The front sanding station is designed for precise calibration of materials and functions like a jointer. The infeed fence can be adjusted via a handwheel to set the depth of cut with a precision of tenths of a millimeter. Important: The fence is not tilted. Infeed fence, sanding pad, and outfeed fence are always parallel to each other, effectively preventing rounding of workpieces. Fine adjustment of the sanding pad for grit compensation and for zero positioning between fences and pad is done using a handwheel. The heavy-duty work table on this side is equipped with sliding surfaces.

2. Sanding Station: “Solid Wood Side”

This station is ideal for sanding flat, angled, chamfered, or externally radiused workpieces. Here, too, the entire sanding aggregate oscillates. The belt runs the full width over a cool-running graphite surface. A mitre fence is also included on the solid wood side.
