The LT40 is a fantastic and practical machine. It works regardless of the weather. It excels when handling demanding jobs in the field. It is simple and intuitive to operate. By hitching it to a car like a trailer, I can bring it directly to the sawing site. I don't have to transport large and heavy logs to a stationary sawmill. Historically: The LT40 sawmill forever changed how ordinary people obtain timber for building projects. Before the era of mobile Wood-Mizer sawmills, the customer had to transport logs to a stationary sawmill, equipped with an energy-intensive and inefficient machine. Once set, cutting parameters could not be adjusted during operation, and each log had to pass through the machine whole. Traditional frame saw blades produced a thick kerf, generating significant waste, and the quality of the sawn material often left much to be desired.

Revolution: The breakthrough came in 1982, with the launch of the lightweight, portable Wood-Mizer sawmill in the USA, developed by the talented engineer duo Don Laskowski and Dan Tekulve. The debut of the LT40 sawmill in European markets in the early 1990s marked a new chapter in the sawmill industry, enabling companies to modernize and private users to process timber freely, fulfilling their dreams of running their own business. This new sawmilling technology surprised people in the late 1980s and early 1990s, who had never seen a compact machine that could be transported anywhere, loaded with massive logs, and—using a small engine and a thin sawblade—produce entire stacks of quality lumber.
