Fumigation involves flooding a space with a toxic gas to control pests and bacteria. Due to the use of hazardous gases, special safety precautions are required. Fumigation is commonly used for the storage of organic materials (e.g. grain storage, port warehouses, silos, mills), and also in churches for the treatment of woodworm infestations.

This device is designed for disinfection of rooms. Formaldehyde is vaporized on the left hotplate and, together with condensed water (right hotplate), released into a room via an airstream to eliminate all bacteria present.
