Schmedt PRÄDEKA XL

The PräDeka XL is a semi-automatic machine for producing book covers in single pieces as well as in small and medium runs. It can handle formats from 15 x 15 cm up to 52 x 110 cm. The short setup time allows for economical production starting from just 1 piece and up to medium runs of 2,000 pieces. The machine is operated by a single operator, who applies glue to the cover material (using a separate gluing machine, e.g., PräziCoat) and places the boards (cover boards) in position. The machine then wraps the cover material on two sides. After the operator rotates the cover 90 degrees, the machine wraps the remaining two edges and presses all the folds.

Apart from book covers, the PräDeka XL can be used to produce virtually any product with a wrapped cover material – whether around one or multiple cover boards, including asymmetrical layouts: binder covers, menu covers, photo albums, folders, diploma jackets, sample book covers, three-part calendar heads, game boards, and more.
