The MM 500 control is a laboratory device designed for dry, wet, and cryogenic grinding applications. It is suitable for hard, brittle, soft, elastic, and fibrous materials, and is used across a wide range of disciplines—from materials research and pharmaceuticals to geology, food, and environmental analysis.

Samples (up to 10 mm particle size) and grinding balls are placed into the grinding jars, which are inserted and positioned on the cooling plates. The oscillating motion (up to 30 Hz) comminutes the sample via impact and friction forces. Optional cooling can be carried out using various media (LN², water, etc.).

Final fineness levels down to 0.1 µm can be achieved. A typical grinding process takes between 30 seconds and 30 minutes.

Grinding balls are available in different materials (steel, stainless steel, tungsten carbide, zirconium oxide) and sizes (available from the manufacturer).

The machine package includes two 125 ml grinding jars (refer to image for material). Additionally, 10 mm hardened steel grinding balls are included.
