The gear tooth rounding process is achieved by the combination of the cutter’s changeover movement and the continuous rotation of the workpiece. The alternating movement of the cutter is accomplished via the rotation of a specially shaped cam that produces either a radius or edge rounding. A set of four cams allows machining of modules ranging from 1 to 16. An adjustment mechanism enables changing between minimum and maximum module values for each individual cam.

The rotation of the workpiece is controlled by a three-step gearwheel system that functions as the dividing mechanism. Workpiece locking and rapid positioning of the cutter towards the workpiece are controlled by pneumatic servomechanisms. The practicality and speed of the equipment, along with the wide selection of profiles available on the cams and the capability to process internal gears, make this machine a universal tool suited to both small and large batch production.
