Opis
Face Milling - Single Part Process - Continuous Method:
- Workpiece and tool (usually Spiron) rotate simultaneously, all teeth are produced at once in a single operation.
- Cutter head has several cutter groups (not arranged in a circle).
- Teeth with parallel depth.
- Conical tooth face.
Single Part Method:
- The workpiece is stationary and the tool (usually Arcon) rotates and cuts one tooth by plunging the tool.
- After a tooth is cut, the tool retracts out of the tooth, the workpiece indexes by one tooth width, and the next tooth is cut. This process repeats until all teeth are completed.
- Cutter head has all cutters arranged on a circular path.
- Conical tooth height.

The C28 is capable of both, gear and pinion machining.
For the single part method, a C28 must be "prepared"—that is, equipped with a direct measuring system, a part drive brake for the workpiece axis, and a license file to enable single part machining.
