This machine is designed for shaping and generating spur and helical gears by the hobbing process. Using special attachments, internal gearing can also be produced by the single index method.

Typically, cutting wheels with approx. 4'' (100 mm) pitch circle diameter are used. As the machine operates using the hobbing method, it is possible to cut all tooth counts with a single cutter of the corresponding module.
