The Hosokawa Alpine Zirkoplex ZPS classifier impact mill is perfect for fine grinding of various dry materials, offering precise control over cut-point or maximum particle size thanks to the integrated classifier wheel design. It can be used to pulverize different products in a wide range of industries requiring micronization, such as minerals, chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, and more. Grinding takes place in the lower section of the mill, where a rotating plate equipped with grinding tools (hammers or pins) impacts and propels particles against the internal grinding track (liner) to break them down. Within the same chamber, air flow carries the fine particles to the classifier wheel, where unwanted coarse grains are rejected for recirculation and further grinding, while fine particles pass through the classification zone to the next process stage, typically filtration. Due to the required process air, there is minimal temperature increase during grinding compared to other granulation technologies. The final particle size distribution can be easily adjusted by changing various parameters, such as the grinding rotor speed or classifier wheel speed, air volume, feed rate, etc.
