The Hosokawa Alpine Mikro ACM classifier impact mill is ideal for the fine grinding of various dry materials with precise control of the cut point or maximum particle size, thanks to the integrated classifier wheel design. This micronizer can be used to pulverize different coarse materials into fine powders, suitable for industries where micronization is required, such as mineral, chemical, food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and more.

This mill is capable of processing coarse products up to a hardness of approximately 3 Mohs, delivering ultra-fine products with d97 values between 10 and 120 microns maximum particle size (depending on the product), all with the lowest possible energy consumption. Grinding takes place in the lower section of the mill, where a rotating disc equipped with grinding tools (hammers or pins) impacts and projects particles against the internal grinding track. This liner breaks down the particles, reducing their size. Within the same chamber, an air stream carries the fine particles to the classifier wheel, where oversized material is rejected and returned for further grinding, while fine particles pass through to the next step, usually filtration. Sometimes a cyclone is installed between the mill and the filter or even an air classifier. Due to the required process air, a minimal temperature increase is to be expected during grinding compared to other granulation and crushing technologies. Adjustment of the final particle size distribution can be easily achieved by changing various parameters, such as the speed of the grinding rotor or classifier wheel, air flow rate, feed rate, etc.
