The Hosokawa Alpine Ultraplex UPZ is a universal fine impact mill. It is used for pulverizing soft, dry materials. This micronizer is ideal for grinding a variety of coarse products into fine powders across numerous industries where micronization is needed, such as minerals, chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, recycling, etc.

This granulator is suitable for pre-cutting, coarse crushing, and shredding different materials. It can handle coarse products up to approximately 3 Mohs hardness, achieving a final medium to fine fineness with coarse particle sizes d97 between 150 and 850 micrometers (µm), depending on the product, with the lowest possible energy consumption. The turbo mill achieves this broad fineness range thanks to its wide selection of easily interchangeable grinding tools, such as pin disc, hammer plate, beater plate, or pendulum hammers. Some of these tools can be used with stator and grinding tracks (liners) or screens, or even a combination of both, to obtain the desired final fineness. This allows the same machine to process a range of products, from fibrous roots and spices to granular chemicals, plastics, or mineral products. Grinding takes place within the grinding chamber, where the rotor fitted with grinding tools impacts and projects the particles against the grinding track or screen (when installed), reducing the particle size. The process gas transports the fines from the mill discharge to the next stage, usually the filter. Due to the necessary air volume, only a low temperature increase is expected during grinding, compared to other granulating and crushing technologies. Final particle size distribution can easily be adjusted by changing parameters such as the speed of the grinding tool rotor, the type of grinding tool and liner, air volume, feed rate, etc.
