Horizon Book Binder BQ-470

The Horizon BQ-470, year of manufacture 2008, serial number 318004, is a four-clamp perfect binder designed for professional book production. With a maximum book format of 320 x 320 mm and a binding thickness range of 1 to 65 mm, it offers flexibility for a wide variety of binding applications. Currently in use at a printing plant in Germany, the machine combines automation, precision, and reliability for consistently high-quality results.

This binder is equipped with an EVA hotmelt side gluing unit and a PUR adhesive system, enabling the use of both EVA and PUR adhesives. The heating system is adjustable from 100 to 200 °C, with adhesive temperatures of 120 °C for EVA and up to 130 °C for PUR. The machine requires a 400 V power supply, consumes 4.8 kW for the binder and 4.4 kW for the melter, and operates with a compressed air supply of 6 bar.

Performance highlights include a maximum output of 1,000 cycles per hour, a heating-up time of approx. 50 minutes, and a cover feeder with suction drum for a loading capacity of 150 mm. Supported cover sizes range from 135 x 225 mm to 320 x 660 mm, and cover thicknesses from 90 gsm to 300 gsm. Additional features include four-way positive/negative creasing (optionally two-way creasing) and a robust construction with an overall weight of 2,170 kg plus 150 kg for the melter.
