3.1 Tests according to Charpy
The Charpy anvils consist of a solid cast base body. Test-specific components, such as supports and anvils, are selected according to the specimen range.
The supports, which can have a significant effect on the test results due to roughness and radius, are fully precision CNC-manufactured and 100% measured. ZwickRoell does not offer one-piece supports, as their dimensional accuracy cannot be reliably achieved. When installing the supports, their spatial position relative to the pendulum blade is ensured using an optional gauge.
Supports are subject to higher wear than anvils; two-piece supports can be economically replaced independently of other accessories. Quick-change adapter plates allow adjustment of the impact point to match the specimen width in the impact direction. Adjustment to the specimen thickness (vertical direction) is made using appropriately sized anvils, which are precisely fitted using locating pins.
Optional equipment for the test stand includes a swiveling safety shield and alignment units, which position the specimen either at the notch or on a face relative to the impact center.
