The tools on the shafts are deliberately made from HX 500 material, since plastics cannot be welded. By optionally hardfacing the wear zones, a surface hardness of 62 HRC can be achieved on the HX 500 discs using hardfacing wire. This provides maximum wear protection for the tools and allows them to rotate powerfully in both directions, which is essential for processing cohesive materials. The option to hardface the tools reduces operating costs, as the discs or shafts do not need to be replaced immediately when wear occurs.
