Grinding with JUPITER means centerless cylindrical grinding, optionally also with CBN. JUNKER combines this grinding method with CBN grinding wheels, resulting in significant productivity advantages, especially for high-volume production, due to the long service life of the grinding wheels. In addition, simultaneous material removal over the entire workpiece length allows for significantly reduced machining times in both mass production and small batch sizes.

JUPITER Grinding Processes

There are two forms of centerless grinding: through-feed grinding and plunge grinding. Both processes can be performed with the JUPITER series.

Typical applications for through-feed grinding:

Bolts and bearing bodies, large rings, small rings, piston components (e.g., for compressors), shafts with constant diameter, piston rods (e.g., for shock absorbers), small pistons for hydraulics and injection, precision wires and rods, piston pins.

Typical applications for plunge grinding:

Rotor shafts, gearbox components, bearing surfaces of camshafts, tube sections for assembled camshafts, universal joints, needle parts for injection systems, valve stems, barrel rollers.
