Upsetting the saw teeth is, alongside setting, an additional method to ensure proper clearance of the saw while cutting. During the upsetting process, an upsetting pin is positioned in front of the saw tooth, while the tooth is held against an anvil. By rotating the eccentric upsetting pin, the saw blade material is displaced towards the tip of the tooth. Once the upsetting process is complete, the upsetting pin automatically returns to its original position.
