The Hosokawa Alpine Ultraplex UPZ is a universal fine impact mill. It is used for pulverizing soft, dry materials. This micronizer is ideal for grinding various coarse products into fine powder and is suitable for multiple industries where micronization is required, such as minerals, chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, recycling, etc.

This granulator can be used for pre-cutting, breaking, and shredding different materials. It is capable of processing coarse products up to approximately 3 Mohs hardness, achieving a final fineness from medium to fine, with coarse particle sizes d97 between 150 and 850 micrometers (µm) depending on the product, all with minimal energy consumption. The turbo mill is able to achieve this wide range of fineness thanks to its various easily interchangeable grinding tools, such as pin disc, hammer plate, beater plate, or pendulum hammers. Some of these tools can be used with a stator and grinding tracks (liners) or a screen, and even a combination of both, to achieve the desired final fineness. This allows the same machine to grind a variety of products, from fibrous roots or spices to granulated chemicals, plastics, or mineral products. Grinding takes place inside the milling chamber where the rotor, equipped with grinding tools, impacts and projects the particles against the grinding track or mesh (when installed), reducing their size. The process gas transports the fines to the mill outlet for the next processing step, typically a filter. Sometimes a cyclone is installed between the mill and filter, or even an air classifier. Thanks to the required air volume, minimal temperature increase during grinding is expected compared to other granulation and crushing technologies. The distribution of the final particle size can be easily adjusted by changing various parameters such as rotor tool speed, type of grinding tool and liner, air volume, feed rate, etc.
