The HERAcell features an innovative water reservoir instead of the conventional water tray. This design ensures high relative humidity (rH) and, above all, short humidity recovery times. Compared to standard CO₂ incubators with a water tray, the HERAcell achieves humidity recovery up to five times faster.

Consistent humidity
Short humidity recovery times are especially important when the incubator door is frequently opened or when small media volumes are handled. Devices with conventional water trays experience extended humidity recovery because the air gap between the bottom and the tray delays moisture stabilization. This leads to high evaporation rates in the cultures.
By contrast, the HERAcell ensures extremely short—in fact, up to five times faster—humidity recovery, thanks to its advanced technology:
• Large water surface area (by utilizing the entire floor of the inner chamber)
• Direct heat transfer from the heated chamber base to the humidification water
• Patented bottom heating after door opening and during O₂ gassing

Early water level alarm
The water level is continuously monitored, and an audible and visual alarm will alert you in good time when water needs to be refilled.

ContraCon – Decontamination with moist heat at 90 °C
The specially developed and patented automatic ContraCon decontamination routine for Heraeus incubators has been independently proven to completely eliminate a wide variety of microorganisms—including mycoplasma—at 90 °C and high humidity.
