The turning device consists of two opposite tables, each with a support surface of 1400 x 900 mm. On the side of the table located at the bottom during tilting, the load-bearing steel profiles are angled upwards by 90° to securely hold the panel to be turned, even in the vertical position during a 90° tilt.

Both tables are arranged facing each other and are tilted by 100° via hydraulic cylinders. The tables are mounted on a load-bearing subframe; one table is fixed, while the other is movable towards the opposite table. Movement is achieved by hydraulic cylinders, which can move the table mounted on rollers by approx. 300 mm. The subframe also houses the hydraulic and electrical components.

A hydraulic power unit serves as the drive source, supplying the cylinders with oil according to control commands. The corresponding valves are electrically and/or hydraulically actuated, initiating and maintaining the interaction of all required movements until the turning operation is complete.

Special attention in the design of the hydraulic system is given to operational safety and the sensitive reversal of table movement during transitions between compression and tension. The geometry of the tables’ rotational axes results in shifting loads on the tilting cylinders. The hydraulics are designed to ensure the necessary performance while preventing component overload in normal operation. Suitable filters, together with a generously dimensioned oil tank, ensure high availability of the hydraulic system.

The required electrical control is fully integrated into a sheet steel enclosure, housing all necessary components. The core of the control system is a PLC, which processes the operating parameters according to the programmed specifications. Emergency stop function and all relays and evaluation units required for system control are also included. Operation of the turning device is via a control panel with a touchscreen for inputting function parameters such as Table 1 tilt up, Table 1 tilt down, Table 1 forward, Table 1 backward, Table 2 tilt up, Table 2 tilt down, as well as automatic start or stop.

To prevent a collision of the tables in manual mode, the PLC programming excludes this based on table position and inclination data.

After resolving an emergency stop situation, the PLC control independently completes the turning process.

The turning device is equipped with heavy-duty castors and is therefore mobile.

We have several of these devices in daily use. This one is unused.
