GBS Prüfpuls rev3 Pulse Generator for Long-Term Insulation Testing

The Prüfpuls setup is designed for long-term insulation tests on test specimens with a capacitance of up to 6 nF.

Inverter for High-Voltage Test Transformer

· Internal sine wave generator: 50-200Hz
· Sine wave pulse width modulation: 16-24kHz via full bridge
· Inverter voltage adjustable from 0-600V, Imax=2.6A, maximum power 1.3kW
· Pulse current limit: 110A (shutdown threshold)

Pulse Transformer – Control

· Control via full bridge
· Full-bridge power supply adjustable: 0-1000V, max. 1.3A
· Pulse current limit: 100A (shutdown threshold)
· Pulse width: 20-120μs, nominal 94μs, adjustable
· 2 selectable series inductances: 150μH, 300μH, to adapt pulse width and rise time to load capacitance and voltage
· Pulse repetition rate: 0.1 – 2.5 kHz, adjustable
· Polarity: Adjustable positive, negative, or alternating, depending on the sine signal
· Cosine-shaped pulse at transformer output

Pulse Transformer Cascade

· Output transformers in 5-stage cascade configuration
· Overall transformation ratio selectable via taps: 1:7.7, 1:10, or 1:15
· Maximum output voltage: 15kV with possible load capacitances of: * 6 nF at a pulse width of 73μs and repetition rate of 2.5 kHz * 10 nF at a pulse width of 103μs and a repetition rate of 1.25 kHz
· Parallel voltage divider 1:1000
· Overvoltage protection at approx. 20-23 kV by parallel spark gaps
· Thermistor for overtemperature detection in 1st transformer stage
· Ground-side current measurement socket: 100 mV/A

Breakdown Detection, Testing

· If the maximum bridge currents for transformer control or the maximum currents of the bridge power supplies are exceeded, the high voltage is switched off
· The unit includes a resettable operating hour counter to log test duration
