Universal Testing Machine
The universal testing machines of type "QUASAR" are designed as single-space testing frames and basically consist of the following assemblies:
- Machine frame: The design and structure of the machine load frame are engineered for the specified maximum loads where required.
- Electromechanical load application with toothed belt drive, timing pulleys, drive by either a DC or brushless servomotor, and recirculating ball screws.
- Load measurement system with load cell suitable for both tensile and compression testing.
- Electronic control unit, which manages all functions: control and regulation, monitoring, and acquisition of output signals from measurement amplifiers for force, strain, and crosshead travel.
The system is based on a 32-bit processor with a clock frequency of 25 MHz; analogue signal acquisition is performed via a 20-bit A/D converter.
The electronic control unit is typically housed in the base of the machine. This also applies to most of the electrical components for the drive and power supply.
- Operator interface with PC, connected to the electronic control and monitoring board via an RS232 serial interface with high data transmission speed of 38,400 baud.
